I've always wanted to apply my woodworking skills to the greater good, but was never sure how. I discovered an amazing volunteer organization called Sleep In Heavenly Peace, that makes beds for children in need. We get lumber donations, typically from big-box hardware stores, and cut, sand, and stain it. Then we partially assemble pieces as a large group. We aim to make 80 beds when we gather quarterly. Then we deliver the beds ourselves. The look on a child's face to have their own bed is priceless.
